Gary got a new job working for another medical device company. He had about a week in between his last day at his old job and his first day at his new job, so we took a little celebratory trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. We’ve been wanting to stay in one of the treehouse cottages they have up there and it was so amazing! The treehouse was absolutely beautiful, and the town was just the cutest. If you ever need somewhere close to drive to for a quick vacation, go there! We stayed in the Bungalow Treehouse, but all of the treehouses there are beautiful.
This baby camel was trying to eat Gary’s arm hair! And that llama was trying to get into our car. And then he chased us until we got to the deer. Crazy llamas.
We also took a tour at the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge where they rescue big cats and occasionally a bear. We even saw Ligers!
Every evening we strolled through the little town, marveling at all the colors of the leaves, and found somewhere to eat. After dinner we’d go back to the treehouse to relax. The check-in office has a bunch of movies you can check out for free so we watched movies by the fire every night. And watch for deer and/or bears from the patio, obviously. The most exciting thing we saw was a chipmunk though. We also saw some birds.
Even though I didn’t see a bear from our patio, it was still fantastic and relaxing and so much fun! If you decide to take my advice and treat yourself to this little weekend getaway, I highly recommend going in the fall after the leaves have changed color – the colors are amazing, not only in Arkansas, but on the drive there as well!
