Someone asked me if I am going to keep those gold ribbons (aka “Phoebe ribbons”) on the trees in our front yard that I put up in September for Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Yes. I am. Those ribbons are a reminder. A reminder of a short life lived well, of hard lessons learned, of God’s neverending faithfulness despite doubt residing in my foolish human heart. Officially they stand for childhood cancer awareness. But really, they stand for so much more than that.
Gold ribbons on our trees in honor of Phoebe Fair, the bravest little girl I know.
