We spent the weekend in “the woods,” as the kids say, celebrating Pops and Mimi’s 35th wedding anniversary. On the way down we met them for lunch at a little restaurant in Canton called Buttermilk’s, where all the food was fried. I got to eat fried pickles so no complaints from me!
We pretty much only had time for dinner after the rest of the cousins got there the first night, but we let them stay up a little late because they were so excited to see each other.
We spent Friday morning playing outside. The resort had a putt putt golf course, a shuffle board court, and a basketball court. It was hot and humid, but really fun and wore the kids out!
After naptime, the two oldest granddaughters got to help Mimi bake a cake and cupcakes to celebrate July and August birthdays.
The kids spent lots of time running around playing made up games together upstairs, and in the process one of them managed to lock us out of our room. We ended up having to remove the doorknob to get back in.
After we got the kids in bed, we played Exploding Kittens – such a ridiculous, fun game!
Saturday it was rainy and gloomy all day so we spent the day indoors snuggling and inventing fun rainy day activities to keep the kids busy.
Mimi brought watercolors and canvases so the kids could paint.
We had some Combs kids olympics using the X-Box, which kept them all busy for a good amount of time. And the adults jumped in on it a little too.
After naptime we watched a movie, and Aunt Amy entertained the littles with her engineering skills using a kids engineering kit she brought.
We had such a great weekend just being together and spending time with each other! Great way to end our summer vacation!
