Words cannot describe the magic of this day. I will have to let the pictures speak for themselves on this one. (More are posted on facebook)
Our wonderful friend and brilliant photographer, Chantz Hough (www.phosephotography.com), took the pictures for our Save-The-Dates and designed the magnet as well. We took a bunch of pictures in different poses and then chose our four favorites to use. It turned out AMAZING… better than I had dreamed of. So save the date, people! May 15, 2010!!
We went to the Crosstimbers Winery in Grapevine to go wine tasting with our friends, Chris and Diana Volpe. This winery just happens to be the place where Chris and Diana got married, as well as where Gary and I first met. Diana asked me if Gary and I would want to go on a double date with her and Chris at the winery to celebrate my and Chris’s upcoming birthdays. I said we would love to go, but the only time we had available that weekend was Saturday afternoon. We met around noon on Saturday and headed to the winery. We got our wine and some cheese and crackers and sat at one of the tables. Diana snuck off to the back, claiming she had to go to the bathroom. She came back and told us that Amy, who had been their wedding coordinator, said we could go walk around the barn to reminisce if we wanted, but we should go soon because a band was coming to set up for a birthday party at 1:00. It was 12:45 so we got up and wandered down the sidewalk to the barn.
Gary opened the door and held it open for us. Chris and Diana walked in ahead of me. When I walked in there was a huge banner that said, “Will you marry me?” I pointed at it and said, “Look… someone is getting proposed to today.” Gary had convinced me that there was absolutely no way my ring would be done before my birthday, so when I saw the banner, I didn’t even consider the possibility that it could be directed at me. I looked over at Gary, who at this point was down on one knee holding open a ring box. I stared at him, continuing to point at the banner, and yelled, “Shut up!” I looked over at Diana and Chris, who were just standing together taking pictures/recording the whole event. I looked back at Gary and said, “Shut up!” again. Not exactly the response he was expecting. He said, “You’re my best friend. I love you. Will you marry me?” I’m pretty sure I responded by saying, “Ohmygosh how did you do this?!” He got up and put the ring on my finger and I continued to say “ohmygosh” and ask how he did this and be completely shocked. Diana said, “You haven’t answered him yet…” So finally I said, “yesyesyesyesyesyesyes!” We went back to finish our wine tasting while Gary’s friend, Chantz, took pictures. We bought a bottle of wine and decided to go back to Chris and Diana’s apartment to hang out and drink wine. When we got to the apartment, there were balloons waiting for me. I said, “Oh look! Who put those there?” And then everybody yelled and screamed and scared me almost to tears. I was clueless about absolutely everything. Gary had planned an engagement party… there was food and cake and picture-taking and we watched the proposal video and counted how many times I said “shutup”. I think it was around 27 times. I have literally never been so surprised in my entire life. 🙂
